Self-care simply refers to the act of making time for your needs and allowing yourself to decompress. Self-care activities should ideally be intentional and enjoyable. After completing self-care, you should hopefully feel either energized, fulfilled or relaxed at some level.

Self-care should not be used to escape or run away from our problems. Try using self-care as a tool in managing everyday stressors or reducing “burnout.” Self-care is all about promoting a healthy balance and preventing health concerns, such as psychological distress.

Self-care can help us manage and regulate our stress levels. Therefore, practicing self-care is beneficial for our mental health.
